We collect information you provide directly when creating your account and using Roomies:

• Account information (phone number, name)
• Profile information (photos, bio, lifestyle preferences, budget range)
• Location preferences (city or neighborhood)
• Messages and communications with other users
• Personality quiz responses
• Device and usage information (operating system, app version) when you contact support

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the App
• Match you with compatible roommates based on your preferences and personality
• Facilitate communication between matched users
• Send you relevant notifications and updates
• Improve and personalize your experience
• Ensure safety and prevent fraud
• Respond to your feedback and support requests

3. Information Sharing

Your profile information is visible to other Roomies users as part of the matching experience. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with:

• Other users (profile information you choose to share)
• Service providers who help us operate the App
• Law enforcement when required by law or to protect safety

4. Data Storage & Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your data is stored securely on encrypted servers. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

5. Safety Reviews & Moderation

Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Roomies stores the messages you send so the app works across your devices. That also means our small safety team can read message content when it's needed to act on a report.

When we review. We review a conversation's messages only after someone reports a user or a message, or when we're investigating activity that looks like spam, a scam, harassment, or a fake account. We don't browse private conversations for any other reason, and we don't monitor your chats in the background.

It's logged. Every time a team member opens a reported conversation, we record who looked and when, in an internal audit trail. This keeps the team accountable for how reports are handled.

If we contact you. When the team messages you about a report or a safety matter, it comes from a clearly labeled Roomies Support account inside your normal Messages, never from a hidden or anonymous account. We will never secretly join or silently watch a conversation.

Actions we may take. Based on a review we may warn you, hide your profile from discovery, temporarily suspend, or permanently remove an account that breaks the rules. You'll be notified of the outcome of a report you're involved in.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and review your personal information
• Update or correct your information through your profile settings
• Delete your account and associated data
• Opt out of non-essential notifications
• Request a copy of your data

7. Location Data

With your permission, we may collect and use your location data to show you nearby roommate listings and improve search results. You can disable location services at any time through your device settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Roomies is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy in the App. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
